We had the opportunity to travel from Nara to Xian on foot following the same route as Japanese envoy walked from 630 to 894 to visit the Tang Dynasty of China.

This trek took two months. The travelers were good walkers who specialized in climate, geology, food, and medical care.

I made the flag for the standard bearers to hold as they walked and as a banner to display at the places where they stayed.

They walked 30,000 to 40,000 steps per day, and 1,679,650 steps total. They visited schools at various places and were welcomed by children with songs or dances. In total, they communicated with seven million Chinese people.
